Home Learning - Spring
Year 2 Curriculum Themes - Spring Term 2025
In English, we begin the Spring term by looking at the classic poem 'The Owl and the Pussy-Cat' by Edward Lear and Charlotte Voake. The children will be developing their writing skills by producing short poems of their own, as well as posters and illustrations based on the content of the book.
In Maths, we start 2025 by learning about money, looking at how to count pounds and pence. We then turn our focus towards multiplication and division, concentrating on the 2's, 5's and 10's times tables. We round out the term by learning about mass, capacity and temperature.
In Science, our learning focuses on different animals and their habitats. The children will be looking at a number of different animals, learning about their characteristics and how they have evolved to suit their natural habitats.
In RE, the for the Spring term is 'Gospel' and the children are introduced to the good news that Jesus brings, such as the idea of loving everyone around us. We then turn our attention towards Easter later in the term and explore its importance to Christians.
This term's topic work:
Geography (first half term) - Maps and plans
History (second half term) - How did we learn to fly?
